    The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established, specialist infrastructure consultancy to appoint a Senior Project Manager supporting major transport programmes across the Manchester region.

This is not a traditional delivery-only role.

You will operate at the front end of infrastructure schemes, helping shape projects, influence strategy, and build trusted client relationships across local authorities and transport bodies.

You’ll support high-profile regional programmes including urban transit and tram network expansion projects, alongside wider highways, and multi-modal infrastructure schemes.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Acting as a client-side Project Manager across infrastructure schemes
    • Supporting projects from early concept, feasibility, and GRIP stages through to delivery
    • Building and managing relationships with:
      • Local authorities
      • Transport bodies.
      • Utilities organisations
    • Leading stakeholder engagement and project governance
    • Supporting business case development and scheme justification
    • Identifying and supporting new opportunities and client growth (approx. 20%)

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential Experience

    • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Transport, etc.)
    • Chartered status (CEng or ChPP)
    • Strong experience in a client-side Project Manager role
    • Background in infrastructure projects (rail, highways, utilities, or transport)
    • Experience with NEC4 contracts (accreditation desirable)

    Key Attributes

    • Comfortable operating with autonomy and senior stakeholders
    • Strong relationship builder within public sector environments
    • Commercial awareness with the ability to spot and shape opportunities.
    • Agile mindset suited to a growing consultancy.

    Why Join?

    • Highly stable consultancy with long-tenured leadership
    • Direct access to decision-makers and real influence on projects
    • Opportunity to shape major regional infrastructure programmes from inception.
    • Exposure to early-stage project development (GRIP / concept phases)
    • Support for NEC4 accreditation and professional development.
    • Collaborative, people-focused environment (c.60 employees)

    Working Arrangements

    • Hybrid working model.
    • Travel across the Manchester region.
    • Birmingham office attendance 1–2 days per week (when beneficial)
