  • Project Planner

Project Planner | Derby | up to £39,000 | Permanent

    The Opportunity
Are you a “thinker” who enjoys peeling back the layers of a project plan rather than just inputting data? A leading rail specialist in Derby is looking for a Project Planner to join them during a period of significant expansion. This isn’t a role where you will simply follow a manual; it’s an opportunity to put your own stamp on the planning function. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between workshop production and high-level project milestones, helping to navigate “the grey” as the business implements new QMS processes and scales its operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and evolve detailed project plans, ensuring alignment between ERP (Sage) data and MS Project schedules.

    • Take ownership of work order management, ensuring accurate tracking of overhaul activities and vehicle maintenance.

    • Actively support risk management and Estimate at Completion (EAC) reporting to drive informed decision-making.

    • Identify inefficiencies in current planning workflows and propose/implement continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Workshop teams to ensure plans reflect real-world capacity and constraints.

    The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be naturally inquisitive and solutions-focused, with demonstrable experience in a project planning or coordination role within Rail, Heavy Engineering, or Manufacturing. You must be comfortable working in an evolving environment where you can help shape new processes. Proficiency in MS Project and ERP systems (ideally Sage) is essential. We are looking for a professional who values long-term stability and is eager to grow alongside a flourishing business.

    Location: Derby (100% On-site)

Salary: Up to £39,000 + Electric Car Scheme, and 33 Days Holiday and many more benefits.
