Calling all Senior Structural Engineers.  

The Civils and Infrastructure Division at Ford and Stanley are proud to be working with one of the UK’s leading Civil Engineering and Asset Management specialists to assist in the growth of their Marine, Utilities, Defence, Rail and Highways sectors.

Our client is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer, to undertake ‘difficult to access’ Visual & NDT Examinations on a wide variety of structures & sectors, requiring bespoke methods for each. This role involves a wide variety of work to be involved in, so no 2 weeks are the same. The variety of duties involved range from roped access work, examinations on marine based structures, and occasionally undertake examinations within the rail team.

Courtesy of our client’s growth, there has come a need to expand their structural engineering team to meet customer demands in all sectors including Marine, Utilities, Defence, Rail and Highways. You will meet at the South West Depot every Monday to collect tools and equipment.


Structural Engineers will be given the opportunity to progress to Lead Examiner, where they can work from home whilst undertaking report writing duties, which will be rotated on a regular basis.

Within this opportunity, you will be supported in working towards ICE accreditations, through to chartered status.

Key criteria: 

  • Candidates must be qualified to degree level in a relevant area,  such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Marine and Coastal Engineering. (Essential).
  • This is a physical, hands-on role, not an office-based position. Candidates must be physically able to carry out manual duties and must be happy to work at heights and work in water. (Essential)
  • Candidates must exhibit, a ‘can do, will do’ attitude, and be happy to work unaided when required. (Essential)
  • Candidates must show a good degree of Structural/Materials knowledge, E.g. relevant work experience, or relevant educational experience. (Essential)
  • Non-graduate level candidates must have previous experience in a relatable field. (Essential)
