Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior Commercial Manager)
Location: Derby (hybrid)
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + car allowance

The Situation: The Civils & Infrastructure division at Ford & Stanley are proud to be collaborating with the UK’s largest provider of civil engineering inspections, in their search for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior Commercial Manager). Due to unprecedented growth, the company are on an impressive growth trajectory and as such need to increase commercial resource throughout the business.

About the Company: They are one of the UK’s leading Asset Management specialists. They pride themselves on supporting the end-to-end management of a range of civil engineering assets, helping asset owners and managers keep critical infrastructure safe, reduce risk and maintenance costs as well as extend asset life.

Specialising in difficult access, their teams have extensive experience inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels, and shafts across industry sectors such as Rail, Highways, Marine, Utilities and Defence. They are currently engaged in the delivery of numerous projects throughout the UK for and on behalf of many asset owners, managers and a large diversity of businesses including Network Rail, National Highways, Balfour Beatty, Kier and Atkins to name just a few. They offer cost-effective access solutions to their clients, always seeking to improve processes to maintain the highest degree of safety and efficiency.

They can access most structures using ropes, diving or confined spaces techniques and also remotely operated aerial vehicles. Having also recently been acquired by a £multi-hundred-million turnover group, they are able to offer their customers an even wider array of asset and risk management services.

 

The Opportunity: As an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor joining this exciting business, you will be reporting directly into the Head of Contract Management and will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management function for a multitude of framework agreements across the rail, civil engineering, marine and defence sectors, covering the entirety of the UK.

As Senior Commercial Manager, you will ensure that all commercial and operational cost control processes are followed at all times, exhibit strong commercial management behaviours, accurately record revenue, and cost against contracts and ensure all billings are completed on time and are correct. This will also be a client facing role, so solid stakeholder management skills will be key.

The ideal Candidate:

Essential: Experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor
Essential: Experience managing contracts over £10m in commercial responsibility
Essential: NEC and NR contract experience
Essential: Full UK drivers’ licence with own vehicle
Essential: Development and implementation of contract management processes

Essential: Extensive Change Control/Management experience.
Essential: Contract negotiation at both pre and post contract award
Desirable: Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management
Desirable: Associate or Chartered Member of RICS or CICES
