Senior Project Manager/Programme Manager | Manchester (hybrid) | Up to £69,500
The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Project Manager, ready to step into a client-side role to develop and manage your own portfolio of depot and station upgrades for one of the UK’s largest Train Operators?
This is a new role formed out of the business’s investment into improving their in-house capabilities. It’s a rare opportunity for an ambitious Project Manager (or Programme Manager) to be instrumental in the delivery of a diverse portfolio of rail projects, including upgrades to stations, M&E equipment, new fleet introduction, and new maintenance facilities.
You will play an integral role in the success of projects, and their effect on local communities and thousands of commuters, making yourself indispensable to this multi-billion-pound TOC.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of construction and infrastructure projects.
- Manage the dependencies between train care centre projects and other transformational programmes in the business.
- Challenge the delivery of other infrastructure schemes such as platforms and gauging work undertaken by Network Rail and manage internal stakeholders in readiness for these changes
- Act as the key point of contact on relevant industry forums affecting infrastructure change development in the region of the business connected to the role.
- Work closely with the PMO to establish which projects require direct governance
- Act as a key point of contact with external stakeholders at the appropriate level to ensure that proposals developed and championed by the business are implemented.
- Supporting the Infrastructure Change Lead, this role will help to deliver a series of medium to long-term initiatives.
Candidate Essentials:
- Experienced Project Manager or Programme Manager within the UK rail sector (essential)
- Experience in managing portfolio of multiple projects/sites (essential)
- Demonstrable communication/stakeholder management skills (essential)
- Experience working client side i.e. Network Rail, Rail Consultancy, or another TOC (essential)
- Experience working on projects from GRIP stages 1 to 8 / PACE 1 to 5 (essential)
- Professional qualifications/accreditations (desirable)
Salary & Package
- £56,512 – £69,752 per annum
- Hybrid working: 3 days from office/site, 2 days working from home/remote
