Are you an experienced Project Engineer who has specialised within design for the rail sector?
The Civils and Infrastructure Division at Ford and Stanley are proud to be working with an award-winning train operator, running services between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness.
Our client are looking for a Project Engineer to operate as Technical Lead for all Civils & Buildings related aspects of their Project portfolio. They will also be overseeing maintenance requirements, working alongside Network Rail, Local Authorities, and various Designers/Contractors.
Our client’s need for a Project Engineer stems from their focus on increasing the accessibility across their station portfolio (AFA schemes), and ongoing maintenance requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities will include setting design requirements, design management and assurance, collating and reviewing design and survey information, providing technical solutions to issues, and chairing progress meetings with suppliers and stakeholders.
Opportunity
Working alongside our client, the Project Engineer will be given the opportunity to work across a variety of projects including station redevelopments, that vary in scale anywhere from £1000’s to the millions.
The successful Project Engineer will be able to positively affect thousands of passengers, providing them with easier access to the client’s facilities across 26 stations, ultimately increasing the footfall. This allows our client to cover work in all priority areas, ensuring no areas / projects are left behind.
The Project Engineer will also have the opportunity to add value to the company’s existing supply chain and make amendments where applicable. As a result, stakeholder management/engagement is a crucial aspect of this role.
Salary
The salary range for this position is between £65-67,000 per annum dependent on experience.

Location
Candidates will operate from the Central-London and distributed stations within this region.
Essential Criteria
- Essential – Candidates must have a high level of technical competence, E.G. Project Engineering/CRE/Site Engineering background.
- Design Knowledge
- Essential – Strong understanding of Health and Safety standards/legislations
- Essential – Excellent Stakeholder Management/Communication skills – reporting to the board of directors and extensive experience stakeholder management.
- Desirable – CEng/ Chartered status
- Desirable – Experience delivering rail/station refurbishment projects.
