Maintenance Manager required for a 10-acre rail track heavy engineering facility. Improving procedural compliance and creating a safety in engineering culture, the maintenance manager will be at the forefront of driving safety throughout the facility across all assets and plant machinery.
Ford & Stanley Recruitment – Are looking for an experienced safety focused Maintenance Manager to effectively improve, manage, and facilitate maintenance activities across the facility. The maintenance manager will be responsible for the effectiveness of the Maintenance department activities at Sheffield, to ensure on-going provision of machinery and processes with limited downtime.
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £50,000 – £53,000
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of the legal standards within manufacturing. They must have a passion for leading, managing and implementing change as well as the passion for managing people.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Sourcing, inducting and management of sub-contractors and their activities on site.
- Ensuring safe systems of work are fully implemented for Maintenance employees and sub-contractors.
- Ensuring the effective planning and management of Maintenance resources.
- Maintaining and improving site and process capability by ensuring plant and equipment is maintained and renewed as required by business needs (including participating in CAPEX submission and justification).
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
- Develop and brief procedures and undertake method statements and risk assessments, ensuring safe systems of work are in place including sub-contractors and temporary workers
- Conducts briefings, toolbox talks, minor accident investigations and inspections.
- Control of budget in area of control
- Control of discipline and performance issues within delegated authority
- Ensure the employees within the individual business strive for continuous improvement in all areas
- Comply with the Company Code of Conduct. Take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, direct reports, colleagues and other persons who may be affected by your acts and omissions at work, and for the environment.
- Plans capacity and allocates workload to achieve the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) plan
Essentials
- Experience in a heavy engineering maintenance environment
- Time served apprentice with ONC/HNC in mechanical or electrical engineering (preferable)
- Ideally with a minimum NEBS introductory or similar
- Knowledge of CNC machinery, machine controls and hand held tools
- Demonstrable understanding of HSE legislation, Company policy, QA procedures
Other information: A pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol test and Medical must be passed prior to start.
