Requirement for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys getting hands on and wants to deliver specialist projects for a leading installation and integration rail business.
Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are looking for a Lead Engineer who will be able to plan their day effectively to oversee Project Engineers and technicians as well as visiting clients across the UK, as they manufacture and install bespoke sander systems onto all classes of Rolling Stock.
This is the opportunity to work for a small company, where your voice will be heard, and no two days will be the same as they collaborate with all major clients in the rail industry. This person will be a representative for the success of the company’s projects as you become an expert in a niche product that is recognised globally in the rail sector.
The successful candidate will be able to manager their own day as they supervise the progression of each project from start to finish with great time management, organisation, and communication skills to ensure projects meet company quality standards and deadlines.
Location (s):
Chesterfield with occasional travel to sites across the UK
Role and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring work is of a high quality and is delivered in line with the agreed project plans.
- Working with 3rd party suppliers to ensure designs are feasible and cost effective.
- 1st build technical oversight and troubleshooting.
- 1st fit technical oversight and troubleshooting.
Essentials
- HND, or higher, Engineering Qualification.
- Several years’ experience working in regulated transport industry (rail, aviation, maritime) or in defence.
- Experience of production/maintenance environment.
- Experience of technical document authoring.
Desirable
- Engineering degree (mechanical bias)
- Rolling stock experience
- Hands on experience in a former role as a fitter/technician
- CAD experience
