Ford and Stanley Recruitment – Specialists in HR, P.A and Finance have been exclusively entrusted and appointed by a large UK based group on a search for a Group Financial Planner to join their finance team based in Oxford.
The role:
Ford and Stanley HR and Finance has been instructed to work closely with one of our trusted clients, Unipart Group, in helping them source a Group Financial Planner to add to their team. The Unipart Group Financial Planning team work closely with all five divisions of Unipart, supporting them closely with audit processes, statutory accounts, group consolidations, journals and forecasts alongside assisting with the tax processes.
Candidate Essentials:
- You will come directly from a practice background.
- You will have an audit background and able to demonstrate capability within audit and associated areas.
- In order to be successful within the role, you will have a proven track record working closely with larger companies.
- It would be advantageous if you could also demonstrate ability within group consolidations.
- Strong excel skills are required.
- You will either be fully qualified or finalist ACA or ACCA.
- In addition to the above, you will need to demonstrate your ability to build relationships with stakeholders and at times be ‘tenacious’, ensuring that you obtain the information required.
- You will be focused on the accuracy of your numbers, working with a proactive approach to ensure that any discrepancies are investigated efficiently.
Good to Know:
- Unipart has five divisions and the Group Financial Planning team work closely with all five adopting the ‘helicopter view’ of the numbers and providing strategic insight.
- The Group Financial Planning Team manage or have an overview of audit process, statutory accounts, Group consolidations, journals and forecasts alongside assisting with tax. They will also frequently set up ‘tools’ that the rest of the business use in the background.
- The interaction between the Group Financial Planning Team and the five divisions is very ‘helicopter view’, looking at the bigger picture rather than the minute detail.
- There are currently 3 financial planners in the team.
- The role is considered to be a 2 ½ to 3 year role as at which point, it’s expected that the incumbent will transfer internally to another area of the business to progress their career.
- In addition to the month end processes, the incoming candidate will be involved in reviewing forecasts, looking at differences between them and previous financial performance, investing any discrepancies and providing commentary where necessary.
- There will be a significant focus on relationships within the business, it’s imperative that the incoming candidates can build trust and productive relationships.
- There is an expectation that the candidates will be able to successfully manage projects within the business.
- There is a big focus on accuracy within the team, and the role will require someone who can interrogate the numbers and proactively ensure that any discrepancies are investigated.
- This team represents significant scope for progression, a number of FD’s within the Unipart Business started within this team.
- The candidate is likely to be in the office once every two weeks. However the expectation is that they are prepared to spend two days a week in the office if the business requires it.
Budget:
- Low £38,000 / Mid £45,000 / Top end £48,500.
